Kinds of ticket
Ticket prices for normal bleacher seats in the Sambadrome on Special Group nights can be priced from R$10 to R$500 (US$6.50 to US$312.50), VIP Cabins, or Covered Boxes, seating (including open bar, buffet - dinner, dessert and more) and scalped tickets can be much more expensive (starting at US$2,500.00).
For extroverted ones, there is also the possibility for tourists to buy a costume and parade (”Fantasias”) along the dancers in one of the samba schools.
In the recent years there has been a resurgence of block parties in Rio de Janeiro. These parties include Street Bands called “Blocos” and you will find such parties in suburbs all over Rio. You should check out those too, there is more than just one carnival.

Sambodromo Seat Types
There are two seat types at the Sambodromo in Rio de Janeiro: Numbered Seats and Grand Stand.
Grand Stand seats are big, open air (bleachers or “arquibancadas”) that offer seating with no allocated seat numbres. You can choose the area within your section, as high as you want, sit wherever you can.
Allocated/numbered seats are either in boxes or in numbered chairs. All the tickets in sector 9 (the “tourist” sector) are also allocated with a numbered seat.
Numbered chairs are right in front of the samba run-way, placed on escalated steps for better viewing. They are much more expensive and we only sell them on special requests, they are located in front of sectors 6 and 13. All of them are allocated and only the person with the right ticket can take them.
